Friday, the 65th Annual Las Posadas will be celebrated in Old Town. Viva España will be an evening of Spanish piano masterpieces with Daniel del Pino. Mexican regional band Angeles y Diablos will perform at Vallarta Bar & Grill. Salsa band Afrotruko will play at Dizzy's. 1222 Oceanfront: A Black Family Christmas continues at the New Village Arts Theatre in Carlsbad, with performances until the 20th.
Saturday, the Klezmatics will perform at the UCSD Epstein Family Amphitheater. At the Nara Ultra Lounge, there will be a Kenya & Tanzania Independence Party. Theo and the Zydeco Patrol will perform for a dance event at the War Memorial Building. El Mayo De La Sierra Y Los Reales De San Andres will perform at La Sinaloense Bar & Grill.
Sunday, Trinidad-born trumpeter-percussionist-composer Etienne Charles will present his Creole Christmas show at the Scripps Research Auditorium. The Bay City Brewing Company will host Skyfire Pro Lucha Libre for Mexican wrestling aficionados. There will be a Kwanzaa Kinara Candle Holder Workshop at Oya Art Gallery and Boutique.
Tuesday, The Between the Notes Jazz Fest will feature the wonderful Irving Flores Latin Jazz Trio.
Wednesday, the Mingei International Tribute Awards will take place to honor outstanding individuals and businesses who have made a substantial contribution to the binational initiatives bridging the U.S. and Mexican economies. The Christmas who-dun-it Passage Into Fear will open at the California Center for the Art with performances through to the 23rd.
Next Thursday at Yiddishland, Yale Strom will read his children's book, Shloyml Boyml & His Lucky Dreydl. Hungarian-American comedian Zoltan Kaszas will perform 2 shows at the Belly Up. Lani Gobaleza's debut play Every Day Vanilla will open at the Moxie with performances through to the 29th. The Italian Film Festival will screen Le Otto Montagne (The Eight Mountains) at the Museum Photographic Art.
Next Friday at Oasis, Tzidia and Aegean Echo will perform will play songs and dance music from the Balkans and beyond. The Golden State Ballet will begin their performances of The Nutcracker at the Civic Theatre. The Digital Gym will screen We Might As Well Be Dead will repeat showings on the 17th and 20th. Banda Tierra Surena will perform at Sierra Madre.
Next Saturday, there will be a Kermesse Market at Mission Valley Mall to support the fabulous Media Arts Center and all the great work they do. You can join the San Diego Archaeological Center for an in-person lecture with bioarchaeologist José “Pepe” Aguilar who will discuss The Skeletons of La Consentida in Oaxaca. The San Diego Youth Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at the JCC. The San Diego Ballet will perform 2 shows of their version of The Nutcracker at the Magnolia in El Cajon. The House of Puerto Rico will hold a Gala de Navidad at the Portuguese Club. There will be a Yalda Celebration at the Iranian American Center. The annual Irish Christmas Concert will take place at the Balboa Theater.
Next Sunday, there will be a ISC Record Fair x Japonesia Holiday Market at the Quartyard. The Farewell Party will screen at the Mission Valley Library. There will be a Fiesta Venezolana Navideña at the Encore Events Center in Clairmont Mesa. A Merry-achi Christmas will once again take place at the Balboa Theatre. Six-time Grammy Award winner Gilberto Santa Rosa will perform at the Magnolia. Filipino-American comedian Mikey Perry will host his Filipino comedy show Ube World at Mic Drop Comedy.
